Bingley

Michael Neary's
 Bingley Picture contribution to BradfordEye

The above picture obviously shows an old Bingley, as for when it was taken, who knows? But if anybody with an idea does, please contact me via e-mail. bradfordeye@yahoo.co.uk

More importantly, well at this stage anyway, is how did I come by it! Bradford Royal Infirmary is the clue to this picture in the form of a very kindly volunteer by the fine name of Michael Neary. Michael works in Out Patients West as a volunteer, and for the last year or so my wife and I have been going there for the usual checkup. Michael always came over and asked if we'd like a cup of tea, I can tell you, that's a good offer when your sat waiting for the consultants, who I must say are a fine body of people, and have done sterling work over the past goodness knows how may years, regarding the treatment of my wife Elaine. Big thanks from BradfordEye for that! Now back to Michael, as is my wont, I've mentioned the site to Michael, knowing that he'd got a laptop computer and was finding his way around it, even offering to be the Guinea Pig for any e-mails he wished to send to BradfordEye, he is well on with it now, so no worries in that direction! The picture he, says is a picture of a picture taken at a textile place of work in Bingley,  Michael saying he'd had it a number of years, and didn't know what to do with. I of course only learnt this on visiting his house to spend a lovely Saturday afternoon with Michael, his wife, and grandson.

Along with the picture were some rather large pictures showing a chicken factory in the Cullingworth area of the Bradford postcode. They are a little aesthetically challenging perhaps, not to everybody's taste, however it is a historical picture so it may see the website yet! Not before I take it over to Bradford University (Bradford Grid Project) to have it scanned. Cheers to Michael Meecham for that kind offer, for the use of the resources there.

Finally a big thank you to Michael Neary, for having the forethought to save this picture and for kindly contributing it to the BradfordEye website. Thanks Michael!
